240 Central Park West

Project Description

HQ served as historic preservation consultants to Central Park South Associates for the rehabilitation of 240 Central Park South.  240 Central Park South  is a mid-century modernist apartment building designed by Mayer & Whittlesey.  HQ conducted historical research which resulted in the building’s listing on the National Register of Historic Places, and worked with Douglas Lister Architects, to make sure that all rehabilitations, including the extensive restoration of the original building windows, were in keeping with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards in order to receive historic preservation tax credits.  HQ worked with the owner and project architect to develop a master plan for window replacement for the building as well as a master plan for storefront modifications.  Both master plans were approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission.  The rehabilitation of 240 Central Park South was completed in 2008.
