Recently, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved a contemporary six-story addition to the former Franklin Building at 186 Remsen Street in the Downtown Brooklyn Skyscraper Historic District. The Franklin Building suffered a catastrophic fire in the late 1950s that resulted in the demolition of the top two stories of the building. As part of the rehabilitation, the missing stories of the historic building will be reconstructed and the base of the building will be fully restored. HQ worked with HOK and Jan Hird Pokorny Associates to secure approvals for the project. Upventures LLC will be developing the property as a boutique hotel.
