The Broadway & Seventh Avenue Railroad Company Cable Building is a late nineteenth century McKim, Mead & White-designed New York City landmark located on the northwest corner of Broadway and Houston Street.

HQ served as historic preservation consultants to Crate & Barrel for the opening of their flagship New York City store at the Cable Building.  HQ conducted historical research which served as the basis for an extensive storefront restoration.  Working in conjunction with the Crate & Barrel design team, HQ provided consultation on signage, lighting and contemporary design issues, all the while guiding the project through the Landmarks Preservation Commission approval process.  Completed in 2002, HQ’s restoration unified the Crate & Barrel storefront to create a functional and coherent display space.
