New York University was founded in 1831 and soon afterwards began calling Greenwich Village its home.  NYU’s holdings in Greenwich Village are extensive and many of its buildings are located within the Greenwich Village Historic District and the NoHo Historic District. Higgins Quasebarth & Partners served as historic preservation consultants to New York University for the formation of a Campus Preservation Plan which was made possible by a Getty Foundation Campus Heritage Grant.  Working with Murphy Burnham & Buttrick Architects, HQ undertook historical research and conducted a building-by-building survey to evaluate the integrity and significance of each building in creating recommendations and preservation guidelines.  The New York University Campus Plan was awarded a New York Landmark Conservancy’s Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award in 2007.
